Smartphones have taken over the world. It’s almost impossible to not see anyone looking down at their phones, engrossed in an app or playing a game. But we hate to break it to you, the unbreakable relationship you have with your device isn’t all that beneficial. Take a look (no pun intended) at the plight of this mobile game addict who played with her phone for 24 hours straight. Let’s just say that her future doesn’t look that bright anymore.
Wu Xiaojing, which isn’t the woman’s real name, used the same mobile phone game for 24 hours when she suddenly noticed that something was wrong. Glued to her phone’s screen playing Honour of Kings, the woman then realized that she couldn’t see out of her right eye anymore!
Xiaojing was then taken to the hospital and the doctors diagnosed her with Retinal Artery Occlusion or RAO. This condition usually happens to elderly people but in Xiaojing’s case, the eye strain from endless exposure from her phone’s screen.
The mobile game addict admitted that she got too hooked that she would play the game for prolonged periods of time.
“On days when I have no work, I usually get up at 6am, eat breakfast and play until 4pm. Then I’ll eat something, have a nap and play until 1am. Sometimes I would be so absorbed in the game that I would forget to eat, and not listen to my parents when they told me it’s time for dinner.”
