For book lovers, “A Series of Unfortunate Events” is just a well-loved series that is about – well a series of very unfortunate events. We’ve all had that one awful day where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. For one overwhelmed bride, the worst day of her life happened to be her very chaotic wedding day. Nichola Touhy was hoping to tie the knot with her fiance Darren Ferne, but it appeared that fate had other plans for her.
Nichola and Darren spent £12,000 (PHP870,000) to make their dream wedding come true but in a surprising twist, the bride didn’t show up on the day of the wedding. The 46-year-old intentionally left Darren waiting at the altar, who begged the priest to wait just a little more for Nichola’s arrival.
According to a report by Daily Mail, the frustrated bride said that their wedding preparations went off without a hitch only for it to crumble on the day itself. The chaos began when Nichola received a hideous makeup job from a nearby department story. This prompted her to go home and wash it all off.
Once Nichola arrived at her house, she was shocked to find that her parents and children were still home! Apparently, her parents disapproved of the union and refused to go along with it. Now, the rattled bride-to-be had to take her kids with her to the hotel to get ready – only to be delayed further because of payment issues.
Stressing about getting herself and her kids ready, Nichola realized that she left her daughter’s flower girl costume at home. Then a bridesmaid had to skip the wedding because her own child was feeling a bit sick. The frustration was so overwhelming that she called her fiance to tell him what was happening.
“Our guests were already getting seated, and when he told me to hurry up that just stressed me even more. It was my fault. I just got so overwhelmed with things to do on the day that I had a meltdown. I feel like I have lost everything.“
She only had 30 minutes to get to the church that was 20 miles away. Unfortunately, Nichola realized that she could only make the reception because she completely missed the ceremony. On top of a really bad day, her fiance was so upset that he broke up with her on the spot.
“It’s not the kind of thing you can get over easily.“
Talk about a disastrous wedding. Perhaps, it wasn’t meant to be.
